A wealth management firm with offices on the East Coast had taken its President's Club qualifiers to the Caribbean for most of a decade. The group was small, senior and well travelled, and the firm wanted a destination that would land differently.
Dubai fit. Sixteen advisors, no guests, six nights in a single five-star hotel on the marina. The programme mixed the city's scale with its older side: a desert safari with a private camp dinner on the second night, a full day in Abu Dhabi, a morning in the souks and across the creek by abra, and a private dinner at the top of the Burj Khalifa that served as the awards night.
November gave the group daytime temperatures in the high twenties and evenings that worked for outdoor dinners. One day was left completely open with a driver on call and a list of recommendations from our host.
At this size a single host is the right number. Ours travelled with the group throughout and handled every reservation, transfer and entry.
